Green Thumb: Post #1
Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:25PM A few weeks ago, I planted a garden in the backyard of my home (with the assistance of my lovely mother) and my old lady soul is really excited about it. There's something rewarding about being involved with your food from soil to table, and I hope to share some recipes with you once my garden starts producing results.
We ended up planting:
- Strawberries
- Carrots
- Onions
- Garlic
- Basil
- Cilantro
- Jalapenos
- Peppers
- A variety of tomatoes
- A variety of lettuce types
- Brussels Sprouts
- Cucumbers

Thus far, everything is doing really well and we even have little baby strawberries and tomatoes coming to life.

As far as the front yard goes, my succulents are doing awesome and I also have some beautiful Spanish Lavender that is growing...

Store Spotlight: Freedom
Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 12:58AM I have a plethora of online stores bookmarked and people often ask me for recommendations "other than Ikea" to shop for home decor, so I thought I would start sharing some of my resources with you all.
Freedom is an Australian retailer I stumbled upon after spying the leather sofa below. If it wouldn't cost me my first born to ship it to the states, I might have to seriously consider the purchase. Anywho - take a look - they have a handful of neat things!

Tasty Treats: Uchiko
Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 01:28AM I've always heard amazing things about Uchiko, yet never set foot inside until someone kindly offered to take me for my birthday this past week.
Simply put - I was blown away by the flavors here. BLOWN. UH-WAY.
I feel quite confident in saying that if I had to choose a last meal, I would order 10 servings of the crispy brussels sprouts with lemon chili. We also tried the tempura onion rings which were delicious (tip: dip them in the brussels sprouts sauce). We then devoured the bacon tataki (kurobuta pork belly, black lime, espresso fish caramel, and coriander citrus) and karaage (fried chicken) which were to die for. I didn't really get to try much sushi; truth be told, I have never been a big fish person, but we're working on that...
